Rule packs are versioned against published state requirements and dated, so a record assembled in 2026 can still be read against the rules that were in force when the hours were worked. JourneyProof does not grant a licence, give legal advice, or claim any board’s endorsement. Verified hours are supervisor-attested receipts, not a licensing decision.
Why it holds up
FIG 0.2
Three parties, one record
The apprentice logs, the licensed supervisor signs, the employer reads. Nobody has to adopt a system to take part.
FIG 0.3
Progress you can audit
Every hour traces to a signed receipt and the rule-pack version it was counted under. Totals are derived, never typed in.
The problem
Four years of work, filed in a notebook nobody can verify.
Apprenticeship hours are the most valuable thing you own before you are licensed, and almost nothing protects them. Here is the difference between how the record usually gets kept and how it should be kept.
The old way
Paper & memory- Hours live in a spiral notebook, a truck glovebox, or somebody’s payroll system.
- Nobody sorts the work into categories until the day the application is due.
- Proof means chasing a foreman from two jobs ago for a signature on a blank form.
- Change employers and the record either stays behind or arrives incomplete.
- You find out you are short on commercial hours after the board reviews it.
- A rejected affidavit costs another quarter, sometimes another year.
You find every gap too late to do anything about it.
With JourneyProof
Verified record- Every shift is stamped the day you work it, in under fifteen seconds, offline.
- Hours land in your state’s categories as you log them. No retroactive sorting.
- Supervisors sign a single link on their phone. No account, no app, no PDF.
- The record is yours. Employers can read it; only you carry it forward.
- Category gaps show up while you can still ask for that kind of work.
- Export a packet that matches the form your board expects, with every receipt attached.
You find every gap while there is still time to close it.
How it works
Log it. Get it signed. Hand it in.
Three moves, repeated for as long as you are logging hours. The first takes fifteen seconds a day, the second takes your supervisor about forty, and the third takes one tap at the end.
Step 01
Log the shift
Pick the category, confirm the hours, name the jobsite. It works in a basement with no signal and syncs when you surface. Nothing waits on a connection.
Step 02
Send the week for signature
Friday, the week goes out as one link. Your supervisor opens it, adjusts anything that is off, and signs. The moment they do, the hours are sealed and can no longer be edited.
Step 03
Export the proof packet
When you are ready to apply, JourneyProof assembles the totals, the category breakdown and every signature receipt into the document set your state asks for.
Portable
The record walks out the door with you.
Change shops, change cities, change supervisors. Every signed hour stays in your passport, not in a filing cabinet you no longer have a key to.
The product
A record built the way a licensing board reads one.
Offline first, because the work is
Mechanical rooms, crawl spaces, rural service calls. The phone stores each entry first and queues the sync for later, so the sync never blocks the log.
iOS and Android app coming soon
Supervisors sign in one link
No download, no seat licence, no password reset at 6am. A link, a review, a signature. The link expires in 72 hours.
Category-aware from the first entry
Hours are filed against your state’s categories as you log them, not reconstructed from memory four years later.
Every signature carries a receipt
Signer, licence number, consent text, timestamp and content hash. All of it stored with the hours, not beside them.
Find any hour you ever logged
Search by jobsite, supervisor, category or date range and get back the exact entries with their signature state.
Employer changes do not reset the count
Leaving a shop revokes their write access, not your history. Hours signed under a previous licence holder stay signed.
Packets that match the form
Each rule pack knows which document its board expects and which totals belong on it: a cover summary, the category breakdown, and the receipt trail behind every number.
Worker-owned
The record follows the worker, not the payroll.
Apprentices change shops. Shops close, get sold, and lose records. A licensing record that lives inside one employer’s system is a record you can lose in a week. JourneyProof never puts it there.
- The account is yours, not your employer’s
You create it, you hold the credentials, and no shop can suspend, export or delete it on your behalf.
- Employers get read access, never ownership
While you work there they can see the hours worked under their licence. When you leave, write access ends and the record travels with you.
- Signed hours are immutable
Once a supervisor signs, the entry is sealed. Corrections are filed as amendments that reference the original. Nothing is overwritten.
- You can leave with everything
Full export of entries, receipts and packets in open formats, on demand, without asking anyone for permission.

Requirements & gaps
Know what you are short of while you can still fix it.
A total is not a qualification. States want the hours distributed across specific kinds of work, and the line you are missing is almost never the one you would guess. JourneyProof measures your record against the pack, continuously.
Same logged hours, two rule packs. Switching does not edit a single entry. It only changes how the record is read.

Who it is for
Three people touch the record. Each one gets less work, not more.
For apprentices
Protect four years of work in fifteen seconds a day.
- Stamp a shift before you leave the site, signal or not.
- Watch the categories fill instead of guessing at the total.
- Keep every verified hour when you change shops.
- Apply with a packet that already matches the form.
For supervisors
Sign a week in under a minute, on the phone in your pocket.
- One link per week. No account, no app, no password.
- Adjust hours or reject before signing. You attest, you do not rubber-stamp.
- Your consent text and licence number ride with every signature.
- A receipt you can point to years later if anyone asks.
For small employers
Answer experience letters without digging through payroll.
- Read-only visibility into hours worked under your licence.
- No obligation to store or produce records after someone leaves.
- Fewer end-of-year signature scrambles for former apprentices.
- Nothing to administer. The apprentice owns the account.
Integrity
Signed once. Sealed for good.
Each attestation is hashed the moment it is signed. Edit the hours later and the seal breaks, so a board can trust what it reads.
Record integrity
A record is only worth what it can survive being questioned.
The point of verification is that a board, an employer or an attorney can push on the record later and it holds. Every design decision below exists to make that true.
Append-only history
Signed entries are never edited in place. A correction is a new amendment that points back at what it replaces, and both stay readable.
Content hashing
Each signature seals a hash of exactly what was signed: hours, categories, dates, jobsite. Change any of it and the seal no longer matches.
Expiring signing links
Supervisor links are single-purpose, scoped to one week, and dead after 72 hours. Nothing long-lived is left sitting in an inbox.
Least access by default
Employers see the hours worked under their licence and nothing else. Leaving revokes write access the same day.
